Job Summary:

  • Responsible for inspecting machined parts during production to ensure they meet drawing and customer requirements using inspection tools and gauges.
  • They are responsible for approving or rejecting materials with respect to quality standards and recording performance.
  • They select output samples and check them using appropriate inspection methods.
  • Finally, they prepare and submit inspection/rejection reports to the quality manager.
  • Performs First Piece, In Process, and Final Inspection of machined components during the manufacturing process.
  • Read blueprints and job orders for production specifications.
  • Reviews job/work instruction for completeness.
  • Dimensionally inspects parts using a variety of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height gages, CMM's, bore gages, profilometers, etc
  • Performs visual inspection of parts for defects, damage, burrs, and FOD.
  • May perform finishing operations to correct rejected parts or assist with other production activities.
  • Generates inspection and rejection reports.
Skills, Education & Qualifications
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent certificate.
  • Previous dimensional inspection experience required.
  • Knowledge and operation of appropriate inspection techniques/methods
    Blueprint reading skills.
  • Adequate math skills with a basic understanding of Geometry, Trigonometry, and GD&T is preferred.
  • Manufacturing/machining experience preferred.
