The Speech & Language Pathologist is responsible for delivering related services as outlined in a student's Individual Education Program (IEP) and for carrying out all planning, supervision, and assessment of students in accord with the state's regulations and the school's mission, policies and practices. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively within a supportive educational environment. For part-time support, this position is 0.25 FTE.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide the instructional program for students to reflect the goals of students' IEPs.
  • Complete all required documentation as required by law or by school administration.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of students' speech, language, and communication skills strengths and challenges including providing written reports.
  • Serve as a consultant to classroom teachers as to how to better meet the communication needs of individual children within the group.
  • Communicate with parents to ensure a cooperative family partnership in accord with the school's mission and to increase student achievement.
  • Support the two-way language goals of the school.
  • Participate in and adopt school-based professional learning, innovations, and technology advances.
  • Participate in Special Education trainings as requested by the Director of Special Education.
  • Invest in personal and professional development through on-going training in accord with an approved professional development plan.
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • A valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Speech Pathologist License is required
  • 3 years' experience preferred
  • Strong commitment to education reform initiatives, particularly raising educational equity for low-income and linguistic minority students
  • Experience teaching urban students of Hispanic backgrounds preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member of the school community
  • Commitment to the specific mission and goals of LFDCS
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills
