Overview

GDC IT Solutions is seeking an Azure Cloud Engineer to join our team. This is a hybrid opportunity, with at least 1 day required onsite every 2 weeks in Washington, DC.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing, deploying, and managing Azure Gov cloud solutions, with a focus on IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS services. You will be responsible for overseeing cloud architecture, driving workload migrations, and ensuring scalability, security, and compliance across the organization. This role requires hands-on expertise in hybrid cloud environments, networking, and cost management, as well as strong leadership skills to guide cross-functional teams and ensure adherence to architectural standards. With a deep understanding of Microsoft technologies, cloud resource management, and automation practices, you will play a key role in shaping the cloud strategy and ensuring the successful delivery of complex projects.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, deploy, and manage Azure Gov IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS services and solutions.
  • Lead the implementation and maintenance of the AzureGov Cloud tenant, including migrating VMware workloads from on-premise to the cloud.
  • Oversee product and platform architectures, ensuring alignment with the architectural vision for all projects.
  • Analyze, design, and implement cloud infrastructure and data center solutions, including computing, networking, routing, and security.
  • Design and support solutions in cloud and virtualized environments, with a strong understanding of hybrid cloud architectures.
  • Communicate, advocate, and implement architectural visions across teams to ensure alignment and success.
  • Provide technical leadership and direction on complex projects, ensuring effective team collaboration and project execution.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive cloud strategy and manage the adaptation process across teams.
  • Manage the cost of Azure Gov services, including implementing a tagging strategy for cloud resources and assets for cost rebilling, reporting, and compliance.
  • Demonstrate expertise in core Microsoft technologies, including Windows, Windows Server, Active Directory, Identity and Access Management, DNS, and SQL.
  • Design, build, upgrade, and decommission Windows and Linux systems, services, and features, including Azure AD, Azure Storage, App Services, BCDR, Networking, and Virtual Machines.
  • Collaborate with third-party suppliers and support providers to ensure service levels are met and issues are resolved.
  • Create clear and comprehensive documentation for various audiences, adapting to a dynamic, fast-paced team environment.
  • Apply knowledge of RESTful APIs, Web Services, XML, and JSON in system integration and solution design.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Alternatively, a combination of relevant education and 10+ years of proven experience in cloud technologies is acceptable.
  • Microsoft Azure Certification in specialized areas is required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in designing and maintaining public/Gov cloud solutions, with a focus on Microsoft Azure (Gov cloud preferred), covering IaaS, PaaS services like database services, Kubernetes, and more.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking concepts and protocols, including IP subnetting, Network Security Groups, routing, Azure Firewall, load balancing, DNS, and related technologies.
  • Strong technical architecture skills, with a proven ability to design scalable, future-proof, and complex global solutions, including significant experience in application migration (VMware to Azure, preferably Gov Cloud).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in IT administration or engineering services, managing both Windows and Linux servers and services.
  • Advanced expertise in Azure CLI, PowerShell, ARM Templates, Azure Networking, Azure Virtual Networks, and Site-to-Site VPNs.
  • Solid working knowledge of Azure DevOps configuration and management, as well as Azure Security Center and Azure Identity Management, including Azure AD, Azure AD B2C, and Single Sign-On (SSO).
  • Hands-on experience with cloud monitoring tools such as Azure Log Analytics, Azure Monitor, and Application Insights.
  • Proficient in implementing DevOps practices, including Infrastructure-as-Code (IAC), Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), and automated testing frameworks.
  • Familiarity with network technologies as they relate to AWS, and a strong understanding of cloud security policies, network security, and data security best practices.
  • Experience with IaC tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and/or AWS CloudFormation (Azure Gov Cloud experience preferred).
  • Proficient scripting skills in PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar languages (Pyspark experience is a plus).
  • Experience working with relational databases, particularly MS SQL.
