Job Description:
This individual is responsible for organizing and implementing physical therapy supports and services for eligible students under through the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) and the Waterford School District Board of Education Policies. The work of a physical therapist involves evaluating students to determine need for physical therapy; developing and implementing appropriated therapy service delivery, including routines for the educational and home settings of identified students. The physical therapist is also responsible for modifications of equipment and in-service training.

Qualifications:
  • Certified Physical Therapist per rule 338.7133(1) of the Michigan Administrative Rules and Regulations for Special Education
  • Current license with the State of Michigan

Responsibilities:
  • Identify strengths and weakness of referred students
  • Assess students using appropriate evaluations methods and observations
  • Use appropriate assessment instruments pertinent to areas of therapy
  • Provide specialized physical therapy techniques through individual and/or group sessions
  • Participate on evaluation teams as appropriate
  • Provide parents with suggestions for home techniques
  • Confer with classroom teachers as requested concerning any educational needs of the student
  • Document screenings, evaluations, progress reports and all other data, as required
  • Complete all appropriate reports as required by local, state, and federal regulations
  • Travel between assigned school buildings where students require services
  • Maintain records in accordance with MARSE and Board of Education policy
  • All other duties as assigned
