Job Overview
This is a union position.

The Advanced Practice Provider Residency is a two year program with HealthRIGHT 360. During the 2 years of training the residents will be engaged in a diversity of learning opportunities including didactics, preceptorships, and specialty rotations. Residents will start with an intensive boot camp to shore up clinical basics as well as EMR training, an orientation to practice management and team based care, and basics of Quality Improvement, as well as other topics. They will participate in weekly didactics, begin with shadowing a preceptor, and slowly begin to build their own practice panel with preceptor support. Specialty rotations will include those that support care for our safety net population, including addiction treatment, mental health treatment, podiatry, HIV care, Hep C screening and treatment, Women's Health, etc. In the second year of the residency, residents will continue to receive trainings and preceptorship to continue to enhance their clinical practice. Second year residents will also serve as mentors for first year residents. Cohorts of residents will consist of a minimum of two members. Incentives will be offered for relocation and retention.

The Advanced Practice Provider Resident (APPR) is a salaried staff position that is engaged in the APP residency. Under the supervision of the APP Residency Director the residents will have administrative support with scheduling and general operations of the program. Residents will have clinical supervision overseen by the Medical Director. Residents will work with "preceptors" who provide clinical support and teaching in direct patient care. Residents will be expected to participate in didactics, trainings, and preceptorships.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities:
  • Residents will be trained on and expected to: Provide comprehensive care, within the scope of credentialed privileges under the clinical teaching of the preceptor and/or clinical supervision of the Medical Director Analyze and interpret patients' histories, symptoms, physical findings, or diagnostic information to develop appropriate diagnoses.
  • Medical examination will include the interpretation of all routine laboratory tests.
  • Ensure appropriate follow-up for all aspects of ordered care (e.g., specialty referrals, laboratory results, radiology reports, etc.).
  • Diagnosis and treatment of illness and injury.
  • Consulting with the Medical director , supervising physician, and/or preceptor for treatment referral options as needed.
  • Maintain familiarity with the standardized procedures as agreed to by the preceptor/Medical Director, and utilize them to guide care.
  • Maintain current productivity standards as assigned by supervisor through appropriate scheduling and monitoring of no-show rate.
  • Provide clinical leadership to support staff, including medical assistants, patient care coordinators, front office staff and receptionists.
  • Work collaboratively with mental health staff to facilitate integration between primary care and mental health in order to improve patient outcomes.
  • Along with colleagues, QI team, and preceptor, assist in continuous quality improvement through on-going problem/needs identification and problem solving.
  • Obtain and maintain licensure, DEA registration and BCLS/CPR certification.
  • Complete all mandatory trainings on an annual basis.
  • Comply with all aspects of HealthRIGHT 360 Policies and Procedures applicable to Medical Staff members as well as all agreements with insurers and other entities that contain provisions applicable to or affecting the duties and responsibilities of Medical Staff; and all applicable statutes, regulations, governmental agency guidelines, and non-governmental oversight body requirements that place requirements on HealthRIGHT 360 or Medical Staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor to maintain a high level of patient-centered care.
  • May be required to work evenings and weekends.
Administrative Responsibilities:
  • Participates in Peer Reviews to improve quality of clinical services. Attends required training and meetings.
  • Maintain complete and detailed records of patients' health care plans and prognosis, documenting care within 72 business hours per policy and following charting protocols and applicable CA state licensing requirements.
  • Upon completion of QI training engages in one or more QI projects with the clinic team.
Compliance responsibilities:
  • Understands and ensures compliance with policies and procedures to manage risk.
  • Ensures compliance with HIPAA, 42CFR regulations and all other funding mandates and licensing requirements.
Training responsibilities:
  • Attend all trainings and didactics as assigned.
And, other duties as assigned.

Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education and Experience Required:
  • Graduation from a United States accredited program for Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants.
  • Familiarity with medication assisted treatments and withdrawal management.
  • Clinical experience with and commitment to working with diverse client populations suffering from substance use disorder and addiction.
  • Certification/Licensure: Possession of a current, valid California Registered Nurse License, Furnishing license; DEA and X-waiver/NPI. Possession of a California Nurse Practitioner Certificate; OR Possession of a current, valid California License to practice as a Physician Assistant issued by the California Board of Medical Quality Assurance.
  • Current BLS/ACLS certificate or recertification within 2 months of hire.
