Atlanta, United States Hermeus Full time

Hermeus is an aerospace and defense technology company founded to radically accelerate air travel by delivering hypersonic aircraft. The company aims to develop hypersonic aircraft quickly and cost-effectively by integrating hardware-rich, iterative development with modern computing and autonomy. This approach has been validated through design, build, and test of the company's first combined turbojet-ramjet engine and is now being scaled through its first flight vehicle program, Quarterhorse. Hermeus is also developing Darkhorse - an uncrewed hypersonic aircraft designed to deliver unique asymmetric capabilities to the warfighter.

You will work closely with avionics and aerospace engineering teams to design and implement infrastructure that helps engineers reliably develop and test hardware and software in-the-loop systems. Data generated from engineering test will be fed into our engineering data lake and you will work with data producers and consumers to empower best-in-class analytics. This work encompasses our remote test facilities and engineering facilities such as our engine test sites, Flight Deck mobile aircraft control center, and engineering offices. As a Software Engineer at Hermeus you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust digital infrastructure and facilities. • Design and implement general infrastructure improvements, ensuring high availability and performance in the cloud and on the edge (hybrid environments). Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related issues in a timely manner.
    • Work with our security team to implement security best practices and policies to protect the digital infrastructure and sensitive data.
    • Maintain comprehensive documentation of infrastructure and procedures. Hold design reviews, share knowledge/best practices with team members and customers, develop trainings
Qualifications
    • Strong background in systems engineering to help design reliable test systems and increase safety of Hermeus' assets.
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, or a related field.
    • Proven experience in Software Engineering that can break down application development into organized, collaborative-coding projects with unit tests. DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Gitlab, Docker, Git, infrastructure as code (IaC) principles and tools.).
    • Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Bash, C++). Networking and Security principles.
    • Experience with building Internet of Things (IoT) solutions using microcomputers, microcontrollers, I/O protocols such as Ethernet networking and serial/usb communication to provide computation on the edge.
