Under the general supervision of the Information Technology Manager I, the incumbent will be part of a Drupal web development team that has passion, determination, and ambition to create the best customer experience with websites/applications based on business and functionality needs. The incumbent will work closely with senior developers and must have a desire to learn and use industry standards and best practices to develop responsive, CSS-driven HTML templates and themes for various desktop and mobile views. The development team often collaborates with others to solve problems creatively and demonstrate high integrity. The incumbent must have knowledge and experience with website interface design/development and will join a team of talented developers, designers, strategists, and producers who will assist with new projects while learning and sharing skills and knowledge along the way.

Department Information
The Office of Legislative Counsel (OLC) is a small civil service department whose mission is to provide responsive nonpartisan and confidential legal services and information technology support services to the California State Legislature and in support of the legislative process. This position is located in the heart of downtown Sacramento. The State of California provides excellent health benefits and retirement options, sick leave and vacation accrual, and paid state holidays. Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science.
  • One (1) year of experience with web-based customer support or web development.
  • Hands on experience in developing moderate level CSS.
  • Knowledge of coding and design standards for accessible (Section 508 Compliant) websites.
  • Customer service oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in an organized and efficient manner while under pressure to meet challenging time constraints.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple concurrent assignments and projects.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex information technology systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgement, act independently, solve critical and complex problems, and manage multiple competing priorities.
