Our client, a growing local accounting services firm, is seeking a dedicated Tax Accountant to join their close-knit team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a tax professional to work directly with a diverse client base and contribute significantly to the firm's tax services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review individual, small business, and non-profit tax returns
  • Provide tax planning advice to clients, focusing on small to medium-sized businesses
  • Conduct research on tax issues relevant to the firm's client base
  • Assist clients with tax compliance and respond to notices from tax authorities
  • Prepare quarterly tax estimates and year-end tax projections
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients
  • Stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations
  • Contribute to the firm's growth by identifying additional service opportunities for clients
  • Mentor junior staff members and review their work

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 2-4 years of experience in tax accounting, preferably in a small firm environment
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws for individuals and small businesses
  • Proficiency in tax preparation software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to explain tax concepts clearly to clients
  • Team player with a willingness to assist in various aspects of the firm's operations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA certification or actively pursuing certification
  • Experience with QuickBooks or other small business accounting software
  • Familiarity with local tax laws and regulations

The ideal candidate will be a well-rounded tax professional who enjoys working closely with clients and colleagues in a small firm environment. They should be comfortable handling a variety of tax issues and be willing to take on additional responsibilities as the firm grows.
