Job Title: PUR - Receiving Clerk EEO Classification: Operatives

Department: Purchasing FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt

Reports to: Purchasing Manager

Position Summary: Receives and processes incoming goods checking completeness of order; stocks goods on shelves and on the production floor according to established departmental procedures.

This position involves independent judgment. Duties mainly include receiving and shipping of materials, performing clerical/computer work, lifting materials up to 50 pounds, along with various other work methods and procedures, plus a familiarity with PD departmental functions, policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Receives, unpacks and issues materials to stockroom or designated locations, completing necessary data entry in receiving computer files.

Checks goods received against bills of lading, purchase orders, etc.

Processes raw material stock issues; issues raw material stock to job buckets, transfers and receives raw material stock to inventory using Made 2 Manage and completes purchase orders and purchase order partials for Accounting Department

Organizes, maintains and assigns lot numbers for all inventory material insuring deliveries are received correctly and records data in receiving computer programs

Places materials, supplies and other received goods on shelves, racks or floor locations.

Sorts, counts and checks received items.

Maintains an organized and clean stockroom, restocking shelves and informing the Purchasing Manager of any low stock levels.

Maintains proper documentation and certifications for all certified materials.

Completes necessary reports using established receiving computer software.

Breaks down boxes, removes trash and pallets.

Participates in monthly and annual inventory and monthly cycle counts.

Packages and ships returns and weekly supplies to Mexico.

Drives company van when assisting the purchasing assistant with the purchase of items from various local vendors.

Operates forklift to unload and load trucks as needed.

Performs other inherent duties related to but not limited to the above.

Education and Experience Requirements

High School diploma or GED equivalent

1 – 2 years previous purchasing or receiving experience required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must speak, read and write English; Spanish a plus

Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and to request clarification when needed

Effective oral and written communication skills necessary to deal with all levels of the organization

Must be able to work independently and be able to multi-task

Must be proficient in computer usage

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, employees and officials in other departments

Must have valid U.S. driver’s license

Must maintain a current forklift operation license

Physical Requirements

Finger, hand and arm dexterity necessary to receive and count goods

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Ability to reach above shoulder level; use both hands for simple and firm grasping.

Must have clarity of hearing and be able to communicate clearly and effectively in person and by telephone.

Must be able to operate office equipment, computers, copiers, fax machines and telephone.

Visual acuity necessary to verify and count good received

Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods

Some stooping and crouching required when stocking shelves
