About the role

To keep pace in this exciting, multi-disciplinary field, we’re looking for a Staff Mechanical Engineer. The successful candidate will be working on Mechanical and Thermal Design of AI Hardware Systems as well as prototyping and mechanical validation. This hands-on multi-disciplinary role provides a unique opportunity to make an impact on developing advanced AI Hardware solutions. 

Responsibilities

  • Gather requirements and specifications from engineering, product and operations teams for planning and implementing all hardware system deliverables.
  • Hands on responsibility for design using CAD tools and provide all necessary drawings, critical dimensions and 3D files to allow designs to be prototypes and manufactured.
  • Schedule and manage peer and cross functional team reviews of mechanical designs.
  • Structure, release and make changes to Bill of Materials (BOM) of designs using product lifecycle management tools
  • Create 3D models for thermal simulations and drive thermal solution development
  • Create PCB design drawings and 3D files for the PCB layout team. Collaborate with hardware designers and PCB layout engineers on placement tradeoffs and design checks.
  • Work with suppliers and contract manufacturers on DFM and DFA concerns.
  • Check parts built and drive manufacturing issues to resolution

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 10+ years of mechanical engineering and experience with product-cycle aspects therein.
  • Hands-on experience in CAD design, as well as understanding mechanical and thermal design areas.
  • Experience in Solidworks, PTC Creo or equivalent.
  • Experience with thermal simulations and airflow testing.
  • Experience with EVT, DVT, PVT testing and certification processes.
  • Experience designing sheet metal, extrusion and plastic parts.
  • Self-starter and highly-motivated to work in a dynamic start-up environment.
