Confirms procedure specific information with IR physician as well as the necessary imaging equipment, software programs, therapeutic equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate equipment and technical factors to optimize image quality and reduce patient radiation exposure. (ALARA). Complies with aseptic techniques in specimen collection and handling. Prepares procedure tray, imaging parameters, therapeutic equipment and supplies per physician protocol.Responsible for patient positioning, sterile prep and draping. Circulates room during procedures to assist with retrieving and opening surgical items and equipment. Performs the role of physician second scrub if required. Follows Departmental QC/Exam Data Integrity Workflow Expectations. Practices High Reliability Communication techniques. Responds to the uniqueness and clinical condition of the patient. Creates a supportive environment for the patient and the family. Collaborates with IR team on patient procedure plan by assessing patients' physical and emotional status.
