The Receiving Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the receiving department in a warehouse, ensuring that all incoming shipments are accurately checked, logged, and processed in a timely and efficient manner. This role involves supervising a team of receiving associates, maintaining inventory accuracy, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and collaborating with other departments to optimize warehouse operations. Key Responsibilities: Supervision of Receiving Team: Lead, train, and manage the receiving team to ensure they perform their duties accurately and efficiently. Provide guidance and support to team members, ensuring a high level of productivity. Incoming Shipments Management: Oversee the receipt of all incoming shipments, ensuring that materials are unloaded, inspected, and recorded in accordance with company procedures. Inspection and Verification: Ensure all incoming shipments are checked for accuracy, verifying that the items match the purchase orders, packing slips, and invoices. Identify and resolve discrepancies such as damaged goods or incorrect quantities. Inventory Control: Ensure that all received products are accurately entered into the warehouse management system (WMS) or inventory system. Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct regular cycle counts as needed. Organization of Goods: Direct the placement and storage of goods in appropriate locations within the warehouse, ensuring that items are safely stored and easily accessible for future use or shipment. Coordination with Other Departments: Collaborate with other warehouse departments (e.g., shipping, inventory control, and procurement) to ensure seamless flow of materials and timely fulfillment of orders. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all incoming shipments, including inspection reports, discrepancies, and inventory adjustments. Provide regular updates and reports to the warehouse manager or supervisor. Quality Control: Ensure that all received items meet quality standards and that damaged, expired, or defective products are promptly reported to the appropriate department for return or disposal. Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all warehouse operations are performed in compliance with safety regulations and company policies. Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment. Training and Development: Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for the receiving team to ensure they are up-to-date on warehouse processes, safety protocols, and any new systems or technologies. Problem Resolution: Address any issues that arise during the receiving process, such as missing or incorrect shipments, and work with vendors, suppliers, or internal departments to resolve them promptly. Required Skills and Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Additional training in logistics, warehouse management, or supply chain operations is preferred. Experience: At least 2-3 years of experience in warehouse operations, with at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory role. Experience with receiving, inventory control, or logistics is highly preferred. Leadership Skills: Strong leadership abilities, with experience supervising and motivating a team. Capable of managing a diverse group in a fast-paced environment. Attention to Detail: High attention to detail and accuracy when handling shipments, inventory records, and quality inspections. Technical Skills: Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS), barcode scanners, and other warehouse technologies. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel). Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively coordinate with internal teams, management, and external vendors or suppliers. *Physical Requirements * Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods. Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment. Problem-Solving: Ability to resolve discrepancies, investigate issues, and determine appropriate solutions quickly and efficiently. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance. Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods. Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining focus and attention to detail. Work Environment: The position is based in a warehouse environment, which may be noisy, dusty, or involve exposure to various weather conditions depending on the location. Personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety shoes, gloves, and hard hats, must be worn as required. Preferred Qualifications: Certification in warehouse management or supply chain logistics. Previous experience with inventory management systems or barcode scanning technology. Forklift certification or experience with warehouse equipment operation.
