The Gastroenterology Section of the Department of Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University has outstanding opportunities for gastroenterologists to join an internationally recognized GI motility program with a rich history in both clinical areas and research.

  • Temple gastroenterologists are leaders in the diagnosis and treatment of digestive disorders, covering the full breadth of gastrointestinal diseases and liver disorders.

About the GI Motility Disorders Program at Temple Health:
  • Our GI motility specialists stay on the leading edge through research and innovation in diagnostics and treatment.
  • One of only 6 sites in the country designated by the NIH to study gastroparesis
  • Motility lab features capabilities for high resolution esophageal manometry with impedance, esophageal pH and impedance monitoring, capsule pH monitoring, impedance planimetry, high resolution anorectal manometry, and breath testing
  • Innovative treatments for a variety of disorders including achalasia, GERD, disorders of brain-gut interaction, chronic constipation, and fecal incontinence
  • Cutting edge interventional therapies including POEM, G-POEM, and gastric electric stimulators
  • Active collaboration with pulmonary for Lung transplantation evaluations, bariatric surgeons for bariatric surgery evaluations, foregut surgeons for care of GERD, esophageal dysmotility, and gastroparesis patients, colorectal surgery for chronic constipation,
  • Temple GI Motility Program is cited as the center to refer complicated patients with GI motility disorders, a tradition started with Dr. Robert S. Fisher and continued by Dr. Henry P. Parkman.
• In addition to varied clinical activities, Temple GI is committed to the education and training of physicians through our general gastroenterology fellowship program and a 1-year GI motility fellowship.

Consideration will be given to recently trained gastroenterologists and more advanced individuals helping spearhead our program. The candidate will have a primarily clinical position that can overlap with the candidate's research interests.
