Upham's Community Care is looking for an experienced Pharmacy Director to lead our diverse retail pharmacy team.

Upham's Community Care offers high-quality, affordable primary health care and elder care to the residents of North Dorchester and its surrounding neighborhoods in Boston, Massachusetts. This includes family medicine, women's health, behavioral health, nutrition, elder care, urgent care, dental, vision care, WIC, PACE and home health care, all tailored to meet the cultural, language, and access needs of a vibrant and diverse community.
Primary Function:
The Pharmacy Director plans, directs, and monitors all financial, operational, professional, and clinical activities of the department.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Works closely with leadership at the FQHC to ensure programmatic success, completes business objectives, and informs strategic and operational priorities for the organization.
- Designs, implements, and oversees systems to ensure productivity for Pharmacy.
- Implements Policies and Procedures that ensure the Pharmacy department provides optimal pharmaceutical services that meet all legal, accreditation, and certification requirements.
- Reviews, revises and/or creates Policy and Procedures annually or as required. Implements UCC's Administrative Policy and Procedures.
- Maintains inventory of pharmaceuticals in accordance with State and Federal Regulations.
- Creates the annual budget and submits capital expenditures requests per policy
- Oversees day to day operations of the Pharmacy.
- Orders medications for pharmacy, and codes carts, in-house medications and vaccines for UCC departments as allowable by regulations.
- Ensures compliance that medication profiles are maintained by the pharmacy staff.
- Oversees the preparation of medications by pharmacy staff in accordance with UCC's Policy, Procedures and Federal and State Regulations.
- Provides oversight regarding accurate information, education and consultation about drugs and their use to staff and patients.
- Maintains and updates all required documentation for State and Federal Regulatory agencies.
- Maintains up to date pharmacy equipment and access to online pharmacy manuals.
- Leads the UCC Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
- Utilizes the current computer system to manage the pharmacy inventory, client registration, billing and reporting functions.
- In coordination with Human Resources, oversees the credentialing, licensing, competency of pharmacy staff.
- The Pharmacy Director and the Pharmacist on duty are responsible for pharmacy security and control access to the pharmacy area.
- The Pharmacy Director has a corresponding responsibility to ensure that prescriptions are dispensed by a practitioner for legitimate use in the usual course of professional practice.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications:
- Current, active MA Pharmacist License required.
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited college or university required.
- 3-5 years retail/outpatient pharmacy experience.
- Minimum of 2 years management experience.
- Knowledge and experience with 340B programs and oversight preferred.
- Bilingual language skills highly desirable.
- Develops short-term plans and objectives for the department.
- Supervises clinical pharmacists, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
- Recruits, hires, trains and develops competent pharmacy staff
