Pharmacy Technician

Description: Positions in this banded class assist pharmacists in providing technical pharmacy services by processing, preparing, and physician’s medication orders. Work is performed in a pharmacy and/or outpatient clinic setting. Duties performed include: screening and preparing physician’s medication orders; preparing drugs, chemicals and other pharmaceutical products; recording data on patient profiles; insurance billing and reconciliation; and maintaining inventory. Work may include providing instruction and/or supervision of others. Primary Function of Organizational Unit: The mission of the Student Health Center is to provide high quality health care services to the students of North Carolina A&T State University. Ultimately, our care should help to maintain and improve the physical and mental health of our students. Additionally, through our education efforts, we aspire to engage our students in a lifelong process to understand and participate in their own healthcare and wellness plans. Health is an essential element of our quality of life. Our aims at the Student Health Center are to educate our students in health matters and to assist them in their quest for health maintenance and prevention. Internal job number: 006589 Requirements: Completion of an accredited nine-month Pharmacy Technician program; or high school diploma or equivalency and one year of pharmacy-related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Some positions may require certification as a Pharmacy Technician. Preferred: Experience working under the supervision of a pharmacist or manager. Pharmacy Technician typical requirements include the following skills, knowledge, and abilities: Accurate data entry skills Able to read, write, and speak English fluently Strong time management and organizational skills Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing Willingness to be a team player and promote a positive team environment Excellent attention to detail Flexible and proactive to meet varied patient needs Self-motivated and able to work independently Able to effectively present information to the patient and in small group situations Dedicated to excellence and quality Able to collaborate with other healthcare professionals Strong interpersonal and “people” skills Experienced in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure; this may include using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and being able to compute rate, ratio, and percent Job Closing Date: 06/17/2024
