Job Description
Working for one of the premier Dallas-based oil & gas companies in Dallas, our client is seeking a Senior Lease Analyst for immediate direct hire. The Senior Lease Analyst will be responsible for creating, managing and maintaining the land records for the non-operated working interest assets owned by various entities within the company. The position is part of a robust and professional Land Team focused on non-operated working interests. The right candidate must be able to work independently with support and mentorship, as needed, from other members of the Land Team. Duties cover the management of working interests through their complete lifecycle including: acquisition, intake; recording and ownership transfer; record creation and data entry; division order interest verification, advocacy for the company's interest and communication with operators; revenue deck creation and coordination with accounting department; lease obligation and expiration tracking; and other customary oil and gas working interest maintenance tasks.

Requirements

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain mineral, lease, division order and well records (physical folders, digital folders, BOLO software and the company's database)
  • Manage integration of land records with accounting (primarily through property maintenance and revenue / billing decks)
  • Manage recording of instruments
  • Prepare check requests
  • Prepare transfer orders and communicate with operators to ensure interests are properly and timely transferred
  • Calculate division of interest decimals from source records including mineral ownership reports, lease purchase reports, deeds, assignments, leases, unit declarations, etc.
  • Verify division order interests and communicate with operators to ensure division order interests match record interest (must be capable of advocacy on behalf of the company)
  • Prepare interest schedules, lease obligation reports, expiration schedules, and similar land reports
  • Organize and track non-operated well proposals and elections
  • Support acquisition and divesture activities including due diligence and interest intake/sale processing
  • Analyze offers to lease mineral interests, pool interests, ratify leases and build background summaries for further analysis by land team
  • Other duties as assigned
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree (Petroleum Land Management program, or similar, concentration preferred)
  • 5+ years of Lease Analyst or directly related experience
  • Experience in and knowledge of the Permian Basin (New Mexico and Texas)
  • Basic understanding of oil and gas accounting principles
  • Understanding of oil and gas title and ownership principles
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook & Power Point
  • Strong oral and written communication skills necessary to present ideas clearly and effectively in one-on-one, group situations, and in written correspondence
  • Capable of effective communication including drafting business letters and emails
