Job Description

The Physical Therapist Level II (Advanced) position is responsible for the evaluation and treatment of patients in the Acute Care and Acute Rehab settings. The Physical Therapist provides services within VA Licensure, TJC and CMS guidelines for patient care and billing for services.

Responsibilities

Evaluates and develops plan of care according to American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) guidelines

Administers physical therapy treatments appropriate to diagnosis and to APTA guidelines

Completes discharge planning according to APTA guidelines by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health care workers; contributing to patient care conferences

Documents and charges for patient care services by charting in patient and department records according to federal, state, and local regulations

Protects patients, employees, and visitors by promoting infection-control and safety policies and protocols

Meets productivity standards

Ensures operation of equipment, follows manufacturer's instructions; troubleshoots malfunctions and reports the need for repair to supervisor

Supervises Licensed Physical Therapy Assistants, Rehab Aides, other support staff, and students

Participates in a performance improvement activity or completes a pre-approved project and communicates outcome to staff

Completes at least one (1) of the following: 1) participates in a professional therapy organization, 2) serves on an approved Centra committee and reports outcomes to staff, or 3) performs a pre-approved clinical activity and provides feedback to peers

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Education: Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program

Required Experience: At least 1 year of experience as a Physical Therapist I if advancing from Physical Therapist I to Physical Therapist II. 2 or more years of experience if being hired into Physical Therapist II.

Required Licensure/Certifications: Current VA PT license. Basic Life Support certification.

Preferred Experience: Has an identified Specialty Area.
