Operating Room Nurse

Our hospital is looking for a dedicated Operating Room Nurse to join our team. As an OR Nurse, you will use your nursing expertise to deliver direct care to patients in the surgical unit. You will also be responsible for providing clinical guidance to other staff and assuming relief charge duties when assigned. The ability to work collaboratively with the healthcare team, including Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric age groups is critical to success in this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver safe direct care to an assigned group of patients as required
  • Implement and document individualized care plans incorporating age-specific considerations, including discharge planning and patient/family teaching
  • Administer medication, including IV medication, via the Seven Rights; document, and communicate clinical findings
  • Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure quality care
  • Promote patient participation in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may 'not seem right'

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Active RN license in New Mexico or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by NM
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days
  • Nationally certified in area of specialty (preferred)
  • PALS, TNCC and/or ENPC certification (preferred)

Physical Requirements: Heavy work. Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.

Working Conditions: Exposure to hazardous materials requiring Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
