The base pay range for this position is
$19.61-$29.35 Hourly
however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Clinic hours: Monday-Friday 8am-6pm; Saturday 8am-1:30pm. Would be required to work every 5th Saturday and work in Palouse one day per week.

Position overview:

The medical assistant (MA) position is responsible for providing professional clinical support through established standards and practices. MAs help providers and staff in coordinating efficient and safe patient care, by performing duties such as information collection, rooming patients, and assisting with or performing designated procedures. Each position has specific requirements with unique duties and responsibilities. This position may require travel between clinic locations.

Essential Functions:
  • Accountable for the coordination of patient care, including direct patient care, information gathering, and transitions of care.
  • Effectively practice within the model as established by PRH, which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of patient care.
  • Establish and maintain communication and collaboration with colleagues, patients and community members, to promote teamwork and positive patient outcomes.
  • Plan and prioritize work for patient care plans and daily planning of clinic to maintain professional delivery of patient care.
  • Interview patients and care givers to assist in the patient care plan.
  • Document patient care conversations, care provided and all other work as defined by organizational standards in the EMR.
  • Coordinates care as defined by organizational standards for defined patient panel.
  • Decision-Making based upon professional judgment within legal scope of practice.
  • Promotes and contributes to a positive work environment, serving others with professional and positive attitude.
  • Responsible to train, demonstrate, or guide others in the performance of assigned work, includes, but not limited to, new staff and precepting medical assistants in training.
  • Accountable to stay current with the changes in profession and hospital policy. Ensure completion of regulatory and departmental competencies within the timeframe set by your supervisor.
  • Completion of assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Active participation in quality improvement projects throughout the organization.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and take responsibility for departmental space.
  • Participation in organizational wide new employee orientation, successful completion of departmental orientation, and other assigned committees and meetings.
  • Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility. The expectation is that the employee will be present and on-time for all scheduled shifts.

Required Skills:
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform the required technical skills for a medical assistant.

  • Ability to manage time, tasks, and resources appropriately.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with colleagues, patients, and customers.
  • Strong typing skills.
  • Ability to read and write clearly, and understand policies, labels, and written instructions.
Required Education, Licensure, Certifications, and Experience:
  • Maintain licensure, in good standing, acceptable in the State of Washington.
  • Active BLS (basic life support) certification.
Preferred Education, Certifications, and Experience:
  • Experience in ambulatory clinic setting.
Physical Requirements:
  • Sitting: 80%. Standing/Walking: 20%.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying of supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasional stooping to retrieve items from lower file drawers.
  • Frequent reaching/handling to obtain and process documents and work addressograph.
  • Occasional pushing/pulling of equipment and beds weighing over 100 pounds.
  • Occasional kneeling/crouching/crawling to assist patient and perform patient care functions.
  • Constant fingering to write, type and use the phone.
  • Frequent talking to communicate with other staff and patients.
  • Constant hearing/seeing to communicate and assist with clerical aspects of patient care.
Environmental Conditions:
  • Generally, the medical assistant operates within the clinic or hospital building.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment such as eye protection, masks, gowns, and gloves to provide protection from blood and other bodily fluids.
  • Frequent exposure to noise may cause distraction.
Travel Requirements:

May require travel between Moscow, Pullman, and Palouse to other clinics or the hospital for staff coverage or meetings.
