POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for performing all diagnostic radiological procedures in a timely manner. Performs procedures according tothephysician's orders. As a member of the care team, the Radiology Technologist is responsible for working collaboratively with other members to assure the safe and accurate delivery of patient care. In addition, the Radiology Technologist must be able and willing to cross-train into other appropriate modalities.

POSITION EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of an accredited radiology program.
  • Current state certification (i.e. Texas Medical Board) required.
  • Current American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT)general certification required within six (6) months of hire required.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification required.
  • American Heart AssociationACLSand PALSrecommended.
  • Must be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues.
  • Secretarial experience and organizational skills are necessary.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English required. Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, administration, and physicians.
  • Computer knowledge required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
  • At least one (1) yearof experience in Radiologic Technology preferred.
  • Hospital experience preferred.
  • Able to demonstrate high degree of competency and experience with radiological procedures.
  • Demonstrates accuracy, and the ability to closely follow established procedures.
  • Requires reasoning ability and good independent judgment.
  • Requires working with frequent interruptions.
  • Must project a professional image.
POSITIONRESPONSIBILITES:
  • Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others.
  • Considers mission, vision and values in developing services, standards and practices
  • Prepares necessary supplies and equipment for scheduled procedures.
  • Performs necessary quality control and maintenance on equipment.
  • Responsible for the care and cleanliness of equipment, supplies, and work area.
  • Responsible for performing all X-ray and Fluoroscopy procedures in a timely manner.
  • Performs all X-ray and Fluoroscopy procedures as per procedure protocols, optimizing imaging examinations to use only the radiation necessary to produce diagnostic-quality images.
  • Accurately comprehends and interprets verbal orders and directions.
  • Assumes responsibility for the collection and processing of patient specimens.
  • Completes accurate documentation on patient records according to policy.
  • Able to perform the necessary functions on the facility's computer systems.
  • Insures exams are verified and completedin PACS andRIS systems.
  • Responsible for training radiologic technologists with the appropriate procedure protocols.
  • Maintain Texas Department of Health (TDH), American College of Radiology (ACR), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and Joint Commission standards.
  • Maintain equipment and procedure competencies.
  • Able to operate all appropriate clinical equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
  • Complete and update all employment requirements, including Health.edu, Employee Health, Radiology Competencies,andCredentials.
  • Call is required for if assigned to surgery.
  • Other duties as assigned.
