Job Summary
Lumos is looking for a dynamic and results-driven Data Analyst to join our finance and accounting team In this role, you'll play a key part in collecting, analyzing, and transforming data into actionable insights that drive business success. The ideal candidate will have a strong data-driven, business-focused mindset and expertise in data mining, cleansing, and visualization. You'll collaborate closely with finance leadership, as well as teams across business development, engineering, construction, and IT, to deliver high-quality, data-backed decisions that fuel innovation and growth. Essential Functions
- Support data integrity and normalization initiatives.
- Generate reports from multiple systems.
- Create Power BI dashboards to improve visibility and provide real-time analytics.
- Ensure data quality through tagging and quality assurance processes.
- Assist in developing reports and analysis.
- Manage master data, including creation, updates, and deletions.
- Design and maintain the reporting environment, including data sources, security, and metadata.
- Support the data warehouse by identifying and revising reporting requirements.
- Evaluate and implement new or upgraded software, supporting strategic decisions on new systems.
- Troubleshoot reporting database issues and reports.
- Assess changes and updates to source production systems.
- Anticipate future needs related to people, technology, budget, and business, and design solutions to meet those needs.
- Ensure data accuracy and deliverables by following comprehensive policies and processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and regulations. Skilled in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Capable of presenting information and responding to questions from managers, clients, and the public.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization and interpret a variety of instructions in different forms (written, oral, diagram, or schedule).
- Experience in creating dashboards that use relevant data to inform decision-making.
- Strong problem-solving, quantitative, and analytical abilities.
- Ability to handle pressure, maintain respect for others, and take responsibility for actions.
- Proficient in the following tools/programs:
- Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Microsoft SQL Server
- Power BI and Snowflake
- Ability to quickly learn additional platforms as needed.
- Familiar with data mining principles, including mapping and collecting data from multiple systems (on-premises and cloud-based).
- Capable of synthesizing complex data, researching, and using intuition to complement data.
Other Experience & Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience in finance or accounting.
- 3-5 years of experience working with large datasets and reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, or Einstein Analytics).
- Experience writing or updating scripts for data extraction and analysis.
- Proven background in BI and Analytics.
- Knowledge of industry standards is recommended; familiarity with agile development processes is a plus.
