Senior Software Engineer, Data Science

PlayOn is looking for a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our Data Science team. As a Senior Software Engineer, your core responsibilities will encompass spearheading and actively participating in the formulation, development, and upkeep of our shared services such as Scores & Recommendations. You will collaborate seamlessly with multifunctional teams to dissect, blueprint, and execute cloud-native software solutions that align precisely with customer requirements. Our ideal candidate for this role is deeply impassioned by technology, possesses a profound aptitude for problem-solving, and thrives in the fast-paced, ever-evolving realm of our dynamic environment.

Outcome/Key Result: Fine tune Recommender for short-form content
Outcome/Key Result: Develop decision logic to automatically detect significant score changes within a sporting event
Outcome/Key Result: Create novel applications of our internal data to improve streaming experience
Software Delivery
Our senior software engineer develops high quality, scalable, and maintainable code that is impactful to the business. They lead the design, development, and maintenance of software applications, and ensure that development best practices and processes are followed. They write technical documentation and ensure that it is kept up to date as well as providing recommendations about new technologies to the team.
Team Collaboration
PlayOn's senior software engineer participates in and evangelizes code reviews, design reviews, and other team activities. They also collaborate with other teams to ensure data consistency and integrity across systems. They are passionate about mentoring junior engineers and supportingtheir professional development.
THE PERSON.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 4+ years of experience in software engineering.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong understanding of cloud native software development principles and design patterns.
- Strong programming skills in Python
- Strong understanding of event-driven architecture and distributed systems.
- Experience with domain-driven design (DDD) principles and practices.
- Experience with agile software development methodologies.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) is a plus.
- Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Travis CI, CircleCI) and related technologies (e.g., Git, Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases (e.g., Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB) in a cloud native environment.
