Job Summary

Internal Audit's role is to assist ADM management by providing independent, objective assurance and consulting services designed to make valuable contributions and improve the organization's operations. This is achieved by utilizing a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness of our organization's risk management, control, and governance processes.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to work within the Construction Audit Group. The Construction Audit Group, a specialized component of ADM Internal Audit, reviews third party contractors who provide maintenance, construction and other services to ADM facilities throughout North America. Within the T&M agreement, cost components are assigned to labor and materials on a rate sheet, where the Construction Audit Group is responsible for calculating and evaluating actual costs incurred by third parties. Throughout each review, the audit group is responsible for identifying vendor risks, confirming conformance to contractual obligations, improving vendor performance, and identifying recoveries to ADM.

The key responsibilities for this position will include:
  • Assist in conducting audits of vendor contracts and transactions including:
    • Reviewing documents provided by vendors and/or ADM's systems to determine total labor billed to ADM for each year being audited. This may also include manual review of invoices for billings outside of ADM's Contractor Timekeeping System.
    • Reviewing reports and documents provided by vendors to calculate total actual costs associated with this labor, to calculate the effective rates. These effective rates are compared to the rates billed to ADM and the variances extended to determine overcharges and undercharges.
    • Comparing Vendor Payroll records to ADM's records to identify pay rate discrepancies and billing variances.
  • Communicating audit results to ADM Management.
  • Communicate with ADM's third parties and serve as a liaison between ADM's procurement team.
  • Collaborate with ADM's procurement team and operations management
  • Contribute to the preparation of audit reports with findings, conclusions, and actionable recommendations.

Excited about this role but don't meet every requirement listed? Studies show that often applicants will self-select out if they don't check every box. We encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this role or another one of our openings.

ADM requires the successful completion of a background check.
