Job Summary

The Programmer Analyst provides technical support to maintain and troubleshoot application performance within an assigned area of responsibility. This position works to identify and define projects to support specific departments to maintain and improve data integration, data reporting, system upgrades, and operational projects as needed. This position reports to the Banner Manager and is part of the Information Services team.

Core Duties
  • Engage with University stakeholders to identify and define projects, process improvements and data upgrades related to enterprise systems and reports; inclusive of integration, data reporting, system maintenance/upgrade, or operational projects.
  • Ensure the accuracy, standards and integrity of all data being added, changed and/or deleted
  • Works directly with Banner Oracle tables, forms and view used by the supported departments to provide consistent service and data standardization
  • Technical support of the enterprise administrative application (ERP) for the following offices: Human Resources, Payroll, Finance.
  • Analysis, programming, troubleshooting, documentation and some scripting within an Oracle database and Linux environment.
  • Provide consistent service, accurate reports with particular focus on data integrity, and minimal downtime.
  • Support departmental data leads to test, deploy, and troubleshoot new solutions and features within enterprise systems. Facilitate communications to support the flow and access to accurate data processes.
  • As part of a coordinated team, monitor the health and performance of large relational databases, design queries to support project and task work, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Identify and propose potential projects for systems or organizational improvements to improve efficiency, add new capabilities, improve security, or cut expenses.
  • Execute successful project deliverables as driven by the Banner Manager and Director of Web and Enterprise Services.
  • Support the end-user offices to ensure a high degree of customer service with accuracy, privacy, and security of their administrative information.
  • Build effective collaborative relationships within the Programmer Analyst team and among University departments to strengthen technical outputs and data management throughout the University.

Education & Experience
  • Required: Bachelor's degree; preferably in computer science or data disciplines.
  • Required: 3 to 5 years professional experience within a technical role with enterprise application as a primary focus.
  • Preferred: Experience in higher education.
  • Preferred: Experience with Ellucian Banner.
  • Or a combination of equivalent education and/or experience.
Certifications & Licenses
  • Preferred: None.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Technical knowledge of systems and concepts underlying enterprise application environments, including:
    • Linux, Windows Server, Tomcat, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Java, PL/SQL, T-SQL, and command line interfaces such as PowerShell
    • Relational database concepts and practices in an enterprise environment
    • Common network protocols and standards used in web-based enterprise applications and integrations, such as HTTP/HTTPS, FTP/FTPS, SOAP/REST, etc.
  • Specialized knowledge with enterprise integration, systems/middleware management, and business intelligence.
  • Ability to develop robust reports using Evisions Argos reporting tool
  • Ability to consistently handle and follow through with multiple projects and assignments and meet deadlines. Able to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities to function effectively in a busy work environment.
  • Strong orientation towards taking ownership of projects and assignments and proactive with projects, assignments, and process improvements.
  • Project management skills with the ability to assist staff in discovery and communication.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
