Allegan, United States OSI Group Full time

We in Boston University Development & Alumni Relations (DAR) harness the power of philanthropy to make an excellent education accessible and welcoming to all, and to advance BU’s global leadership in research, scholarship, artistic creation, and professional practice. To support our work, we have built—and are continuing to build—an outstanding team of dynamic, mission-driven advancement professionals who constantly strive to create an environment where everyone belongs. Where it’s not just about a job, but a career and a community.

Now, our Medical School-based development team is looking for an Associate Director who will be responsible for the accurate and timely stewardship of high-level and key donors who provide philanthropic support for the education and research priorities of the Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine.

Associate Director, Stewardship & Donor Relations:

This position completes annual stewardship reporting, manages the Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine signature donor recognition event, acts as the primary liaison to the School’s Dean's Advisory Board (DAB), and assists with prospect cultivation and development administration. This position’s responsibilities cover all aspects of stewardship at the Chobanian & Avedisian SOM, while working collaboratively with members across the School of Medicine community and BU stewardship colleagues on the Charles River Campus (CRC).

Responsibilities:

  • Creation and delivery of stewardship reports for our donors: this position provides ~175 endowment financial reports annually to Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine donors in the fall, and ~130 impact reports to our donors in the spring, partnering with BU's SDR department, as well as Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine’s finance and student financial services offices to pull together the disparate components, manage tracking, reporting, and delivery of these reports. Executes individualized stewardship reporting and other special projects as requested. Independently manages outreach to students, faculty, and staff for creation of stewardship materials.
  • Serves as liaison to the Dean's Advisory Board (DAB): Serve as primary contact for DAB members, working with the Associate Dean for Development and the Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine Dean to maintain regular communications with Board members; responsible for planning, scheduling, and communicating triannual board meetings; creating and sending DAB e-newsletters every other month; managing task forces and other sub-committees, as well as other DAB-related projects; and otherwise.
  • Managing all aspects of Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine's signature donor stewardship events, namely the annual Keefer Society and Scholarship recognition dinner, including compiling invitation lists, securing venues, entertainment, menus, speakers, table seating, onsite management, recognition prisms, and event follow up.
  • Oversees the creation and execution of acknowledgement letters and other high-level donor correspondence for Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine Dean and Development Associate Dean. Regularly updates templates and other stewardship materials. Provides content and editing support for Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine magazine and other stewardship content at Chobanian & Avedisian SOM as needed. Manages named opportunities and other stewardship related materials, working with vendors on recognition plaques, gifts, and signage.
  • Supporting Advancement Services team as liaison with the CRC SDR team, coordinating the establishment of new funds, drafting gift agreements to be approved by legal counsel, and maintaining a tracking system at CAMED for all philanthropic funds. Ensures best practices and accurate records of stewardship Chobanian & Avedisian SOM in Development database and other reporting systems.
  • Manage ad-hoc stewardship projects, including ad-hoc reporting and campus visits. Coordinates, staffs, and documents in-person donor stewardship visits and tours of the Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine as needed; supports frontline fundraisers in the execution of such visits.
