JOB DESCRIPTION

Department: Med Surg

Shift timing: Night shift 18:45 - 07:15 hours

Roles & Responsibilities

Core Staffing Plan: Variable staffing grid to include: Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), Nurse Interns (NIs).

An RN assumes full responsibility for the patients on each team. Staffing Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Successful completion of a rhythm test.
  • Unit Capacity: The 6 East unit is a thirty-six (36) bed acute care unit focusing on medical patients, and infant, pediatrics, and adolescent medical/surgical patients.
  • Population Served: MedSurg with ED pace care.
  • All ages. COPD exacerbation, GI Bleed, AMS, UTI, Cellulitis, Appendicitis, Croup, Dehydration, Allergic Reactions, etc..Unique is pediatric diagnoses on this unit.
  • Ages of Patients Served: Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric
  • Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:6
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • National Institutes of Health (NIH)
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Certification
  • Certified Principal Investigator (CPI) Certification
  • Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
  • The ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Strong technical skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Passionate about patient care
  • Completion of a fully accredited RN program
  • Minimum three years med/surg experience
  • One year of Epic experience
  • ARRT Certification
  • Active unencumbered Tennessee RN state license
Requirements:
  • COVID vaccine with 2 Shots & Booster.

  • A can-do, team oriented attitude is essential, as the ability to work independently and to interact easily with physicians, other managers and staff throughout the department and hospital.
  • Effective interpersonal/communication, organizational, and the flexibility to handle multiple tasks.
