Responsibilities

Position Summary

This role includes performing structural engineering technical work on complex projects, applying proficiency in designing, analyzing, and reviewing structural systems to ensure safety, stability, and compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will have great communication skills, technical knowledge to work independently and as part of a collaborative team, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Essential Functions

As a Structural Engineer at Woolpert, you will:

  • Perform structural engineering technical work for projects of various types.
  • Participate in progress meetings to discuss scope, schedule, and fee.
  • Develop and modify models, plans, details, and drawings of structural engineering systems and components according to established standards and modeling techniques.
  • Perform structural analysis using modeling software and techniques for complex structures.
  • Perform structural design for various structural materials, including steel, concrete, wood, and masonry.
  • Work with leadership and participate in training to advance your career and technical skills.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • BA/BS or MA/MS in related field and ten (10) years related experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) certification required.
  • Effective presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Verbal and written communication abilities for both internal and external relationships.
  • Experience with discipline related software applications and calculation tools.
  • Experience designing in Autodesk Revit 3-D modeling software and the preparation of construction documents.
  • Involvement in QAQC and coordination of design documents between disciplines.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents including scientific and technical journals, handbooks, and industry information.
  • Proficient in use of MS Teams, OneDrive/SharePoint, and MS Office suite.
  • Able to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries from clients, regulatory agencies, and/or members of the business community.
  • Able to write technical opinions, articles, and thought leadership social media using original or innovative techniques or style.
  • Mentally and physically capable of performing all essential duties required of the position.
  • Willing to travel to project sites or offices, as needed.
