The Case Manager of Education and Employment Services is responsible for creating job opportunities and increasing the employability of homeless youth and young adults, as well as, supporting clients with educational exploration and pursuing educational opportunities of interest. 

They build relationships with employers, assist clients with job readiness, build soft skills, perform job searches, and assist in obtaining and securing internships and employment.

 The Case Manager of Employment Services works to reduce education and employment barriers by building and maintaining strong relationships with educational partners and employers, acting as a liaison between both educational institutions and employers and clients.

Reports To: Manager of Education and Employment Services 

essential duties  

Job Development 

  • Research, identify and conduct outreach to potential employer partners. 
  • Develop new and strengthen existing relationships with employer partnerships to create employment opportunities for homeless youth and young adults. 
  • Stays current on employment trends and training. 

Employment Support Services 

  • Screen clients for education and employment readiness, conduct occupational assessments and identify barriers to education and employment. 
  • Develop educational and employment goal plans with clients and conduct periodic progress reviews. 
  • Provide education, career exploration, and job search support.  
  • Provide education and employment-related resources to clients such as job fairs, internet sites, job postings, short term training, etc. 
  • Assist clients with identifying, applying for, and tracking education and employment opportunities. 
  • Plan, organize and conduct employment skills workshops including resume preparation and interviewing skills. 
  • Provide resources and referrals to clients for job search needs, such as interview clothing, transportation, etc.
  • Provide job coaching and post-employment support. 

Data Collection, Recordkeeping and Reporting 

  • Maintain updated and accurate client files. 
  • Track retention services for 12 months following job placement. 
  • Maintain detailed documentation and recordkeeping to meet all contract and grant requirements, outcomes, and audits. 
  • Submit weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports to the Manager of Education and Employment Services as required by contracts and Friends of Youth. 

job requirements 

a. Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human-service field preferred. 
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience, including supporting youth and young adults experiencing homelessness. 
  • Experience in job development, job marketing and job placement. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MS365 Power Platform.

b. Additional Requirements 

  • Must satisfactorily pass criminal history check.  
  • Must satisfactorily pass tuberculosis (TB) test.  
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid Washington State driver's license (or be able to obtain one by date of employment).  
  • Employees and volunteers who operate their own or Friends of Youth vehicles on Friends of Youth business, must have a safe driving record as defined by Friends of Youth.  
  • Employees and volunteers who operate their own vehicle(s) on Friends of Youth business must carry auto liability insurance that complies with the requirements of Friends of Youth.  
  • Must successfully complete the following health certification requirements within 30 days of employment: CPR, First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogens.  
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required. There are no exemptions.

c. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

  • Ability to engage with diverse populations in a culturally responsive manner. 
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion by honoring and celebrating diverse characteristics and expressions of personal identity.  
  • Strong commitment to Friends of Youth’s mission, vision, and values.  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Able to establish and maintain positive working relationships with youth and young adults.
  • Willing and able to travel to multiple local program sites and other locations in personal vehicle (mileage reimbursement provided).
