Will work in conjunction with Technical Design, Merchandising, Product Development, Sales, and Marketing teams. Keen eye for competitive shopping, market intel and consumer knowledge, sourcing trends, silhouette, color, materials. Conceiving product that provides innovative solutions that challenge the status quo. This role is in-office, 5 days onsite in New York, NY.

  • Salary: $120-180K
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for product design process including market research, designing, sketching, specing following the design calendar ensuring that the product is designed to meet brand image, and target customer's needs.
  • Provide market research and present future trends based on seasonal concepts; research and development on all on-going fabrics, construction details and trim research; provide recommendations regarding seasonal themes, edits to lines, new concepts, etc. Interpret international/domestic concepts and fashion trends as they relate to market demands, company image and business strategy.
  • Provide direction for fabric, trim and colorway selection for each season and brand. Work with production sourcing to develop new fabrics, prints, and trims and achieve desired results.
  • Define the merchandising of the seasonal salesperson sample sets by coordinating with the various Sales Managers to ensure product selection (look/color/fits) matches the needs for their territory, in coordination with the Product Director.
  • Selection of product components (accessories, colors, materials, accessories, etc.) and provide information to the various departments (technical data sheets).
  • Oversee all aspects of presentation from inspirational boards, lookbooks and linesheets to prototypes and articulation of market direction.
  • Responsible for presenting new seasonal collection inspiration to Sales, Marketing, and Planning teams.
  • Work closely with the Product Director to establish the merchandising plan for each collection including but not limited to styles to be repeated, adding new colors, new styles needed by the market, etc.
  • Design collections within costs, style, performance, and consumer objectives integrating innovative design and inspiration.
  • Close collaboration with suppliers and product development, controlling the deadlines for the requests to them according to the collection schedule.
  • Keep track of lines, products, and suppliers in line with collection planning.
  • Attend fashion, textile and apparel trend trade shows and shop domestic markets with buyers to identify and target new brand appropriate trends.
  • Engage in regularly scheduled retail store visitation cycles to gather feedback from retailers, end consumers, and store associates.
  • Maintain interaction and relationships with Product Development, Planning, overseas production partners, outside vendors, and suppliers.
  • Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 7+ years in the bra/lingerie/intimates business (or similar product in the fashion industry)
  • Elevated taste level and feel for fashion trends, materials, and colors.
  • Knowledge and passion for the lingerie markets.
  • Conceptual and strategic understanding to align collections with the market and to design in a streamlined, commercial, and cost-conscious way
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Organized, structured, systematic working style
  • Fashion competence, an innate feeling for trends
  • Refined eye for visual quality and commercial success
  • High flexibility and ability to work with multiple personalities
  • International exposure and global fashion sensibility
