Performs diagnostic ultrasonography procedures at a skilled technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail.
ResponsibilitiesResearch and interpretation of patient’s medical history in relation to exam.
Select and set up appropriate test equipment.
Determine the proper patient positioning and transducer selection to achieve accurate test results.
Perform imaging scan of patient (OB/GYN, transvaginal, limited Doppler, amniocentesis) by recording data, visualizing anatomy, and charting information for diagnostic interpretation of physician.
Operate equipment that produces photographs or printout images.
Counsel patient before and after scan regarding the procedure, the results and the implication of the results on the pregnancy.
Formulation of all patient ultrasound reports and submission of related changes and diagnosis
Assist physicians with invasive procedures.
Maintain records of patient’s visits.
Maintain ARDMS certification-associated CME credits
Assist with scheduling of all ultrasound equipment maintenance and service in partnership with the Ultrasound Manager.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications- Successful completion of a one-to-two-year program in radiological technology or closely related field and successful completion of a one-to-two-year program in medical sonography.
- Must be ARRT and/or ARDMS registered in Obstetrics/Gynecology.
- Must have at least three years of relevant obstetrical experience if coming from outside of EVMS Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) or two years relevant experience within EVMS MFM.
- Experience should include comprehensive skills in fetal anomalies, high risk obstetrics, Doppler flow studies and providing ultrasound guidance for invasive fetal procedures.
- Must meet productivity metrics within one year of employment.
