Position Title: Snowmaking

Department: Mountain Operations

Reports To: Snowmaking Supervisor and/or Snowmaking Manager

Status: Full-time Seasonal, Hourly (Non-Exempt)

Working Hours: Work begins early November and typically runs through the end of March. 12-hour shifts are required day

shift from 7am - 7pm, night shift from 7pm - 7am. May be required to work day, night or evening hours

and overtime, emergency call-outs, weekends and holidays as required. Hours to be worked will be

determined by the job requirements, training and experience of employees.

Wage: $18.00 per hour with potential to earn incentives

Snowmaker Position Summary: As a snowmaker, works as part of a team to open and maintain skiing terrain with the best possible snow that can be created. It is an outside position working in the elements, working under dark, cold and adverse conditions. Requires periodically rotating snow making guns, checking snow quality and clearing snow from around equipment. This can be a fun but yet very physically demanding position. As a supervisor, additionally works in conjunction with the Snowmaking Manager in overseeing the daily operation of the snowmaking department.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Wisp Resort is a four-season ski, golf and recreational destination resort. Because of the nature of the resort business, employees may be asked to perform other duties outside of the job description. Also, hours of operation are 24/7 including weekends and holidays.

General Duties & Responsibilities:
• Exhibits the ability to work long hours (12 + hour shifts) for consecutive days.
• Exhibits the ability to interact and converse intelligently with other employees, and to write legibly in properly filling out required forms.
• Responsible for operation and care of all equipment, supports all company policies and procedures and the harmony and good will in the Mountain Operations department and throughout the company.
• Participate in training prior to starting job duties, will view films concerning safety and snowmaking operations in addition to being trained to operate various types of equipment.
• Follows detailed instructions for snowmaking gun start-up and shut-down.
• Maintain all safety barriers, padding and guards around snowmaking equipment.
• Required to shovel snow, performing snow removal around snowmaking equipment and other areas around the resort as needed.
• Work SAFELY in close proximity to heavy equipment, high voltage, and high water pressures.
• Maintain a clean workplace and all other facilities used.
• Relocate and set up various types of portable snowmaking equipment.
• Become familiar with all the facilities at Wisp including locations and hours of operation.
• This is an entry level position.
• Operate and maintain various types of snowmaking equipment as trained to do so.
• Assist with the relocation and set up of various types of portable snowmaking equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned while waiting for optimum snowmaking weather.

Qualifications:

Successful execution of this job requires an individual to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Specialized in-house training - successful completion of safety and training for operation of tools and equipment required to perform snowmaking tasks.
• Must be at least (18) years of age

• Basic English

• Basic math

• Exposure to: Chemicals required for cleaning, de-greasing, and painting, ultra-violet radiation from the sun, fumes produced in activities ranging from cleaning to painting.
• Noise generated by snow guns, and equipment may require hearing protection to be worn.
