Southwire Job Description

Overall Summary:

The EHS Specialist works within the Environmental Health and Safety Department to support operations and foster a culture of zero injuries and ensure compliance. This role will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing environmental, health and safety activities at the facility. This role will assist in monitoring all facility activities to ensure that regulatory and company requirements are met. This position would also respond to emergency situations when they arise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting risk assessments related to jobs performed by team members and suggests risk mitigation strategies through programs such as Job Safety Analysis, ergonomics process, machine safeguarding, etc.
  • Training, Tracking and Auditing compliance with plant safety interactions to ensure we meet monthly goals.
  • Facilitate and track training in relation to OSHA, EPA, EH&S policies, practices and procedures including but not limited to orientations and monthly trainings.
  • Maintaining accurate daily, weekly, and monthly metrics to report to onsite management teams and corporate based reporting systems.
  • Support all mandatory air, water, and waste compliance assurance-monitoring activities at the facility.
  • Support in the implementation of new EH&S programs.
  • Execute action items from safety investigations to drive closure of effective corrective/preventative actions as assigned.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned, in support of the EHS Continuum.

Requirements:

  • BA in EHS or other related fields
  • 1-3 years of experience working in an EHS role or related field
  • OSHA Certification, preferred
