Job Description

Job Title: Data Engineer

This position is a remote assignment.

Summary:

The Data Engineer works closely with business SME's as well as the product team to design, build, and maintain data pipelines and data warehouses. They are responsible for developing and maintaining ETL processes, data quality checks, and data integration solutions.

Wage Type: Salaried or Hourly (Non-exempt)

  • Responsible for monitoring and troubleshooting data pipelines and ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
  • Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and data objects.
  • Develop and maintain ETL processes, data quality checks, and data integration solutions.
  • Assist in the development and optimization of database structures, ensuring efficient storage and retrieval of data.
  • Production support of all required cloud data warehouse systems and process (as required).
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines and ensure data accuracy and consistency
  • Assist with the implementation of Master Data Management (MDM) strategy and enforce data quality standards.
  • Contribute to the design and maintenance of data models that align with the business requirements.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and software engineers to design and implement data solutions.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements.
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure code quality and best practices.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for data engineering processes; ensuring that it is up to date and accessible to the team.
  • Stay up to date with emerging trends and technologies in data engineering.
  • Carries out responsibilities with professionalism, respect for others, in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
Key Deliverables:
  • Production Support of the cloud-based data ecosystem
  • Support the data warehouse platform maintenance
  • Support sales on-boarding & integration process
  • Development of both MDM and ETL pipeline/processes
Organizational Structure:

Reports to: Data Architect - Lead Engineer

Supervises: N/a

Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
Required Knowledge/Skills:
  • Good understanding of data engineering principles, ETL processes, data modeling, Master Data Management
  • 1-3 years of experience in data engineering or related field
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or Scala
  • Experience with ETL tools such as Apache NiFi, Talend, or Informatica
  • Experience with data warehousing, data lakes
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred:
  • Knowledge of banking or financial services industry data
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Familiarity with version control systems
  • Understanding of big data technologies
  • Understanding of Master Data Management principles
  • Familiarity with agile project management tools (Jira, etc.)
  • Familiarity with data governance and compliance standards
