  • Job Objective: A brief overview of the position.
    • This position is responsible for supporting the anesthesiologists for routine and complex surgical cases including general, regional and monitored anesthesia care patients. Assist with invasive and non-invasive monitoring. On-call is a requirement of this position and the post holder will be expected to provide anesthesia technician support at all locations where anesthesia is administered.

  • Qualifications
    • Education
      • Preferred: AS Degree
    • Licensure/Certification
      • Required: American Heart Association BLS
      • Preferred: Anesthesia Technician Certification
    • Experience
      • Required: Two (2) years of experience in the operating room, sterile processing, a certified/licensed direct patient care role or certification for anesthesia technicians through the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) in lieu of experience, if hired after January 1, 2023
      • Preferred: Experience in healthcare procedural department
  • Essential Responsibilities
    • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
    • Assists the anesthesiologists for routine and complex cases
    • Assists in lifting and/or transferring patients from stretcher/bed to OR table and vice versa
    • Assists with the application of non-invasive monitoring equipment, i.e blood pressure cuff, EKG, pulse oximeter
    • Set-up IV and pressure lines for indwelling catheters:
      • arterial
      • central venous
      • pulmonary artery
      • ICP monitor
    • Assists with invasive and non-invasive monitoring. Set up and maintenance of a sterile field for invasive monitoring procedures
    • Equipment maintenance and servicing such as cleaning and sterilizing, assembling, calibrating and testing, troubleshooting.
    • Operates a variety of mechanical, pneumatic, and electronic equipment used to monitor the patient undergoing anesthesia.
    • Demonstrate the ability to set up all anesthesia equipment and instrumentation

    • Provide assistance to other support staff while recognizing own practice limitations
    • Provide assistance with patient transport and positioning

    • Supports and enforces infection-control policies and procedures
    • Maintains patient and medical staff confidentiality
    • Participates in departmental committees and meetings
    • Any other duties that may be required
