Child & Family Therapist - Part Time (20 hours/week)
Compass Health - Bellingham, WA
Compass Health is currently looking for a Mental Health Counselor / Clinician II for our Child & Family program in Whatcom County. The Clinician II provides behavioral health counseling and clinically indicated case management services for Children and/or Families with behavioral health conditions. This position is responsible for assessing client functioning and needs, partnering with the client and/or their families to develop an individually tailored care plan designed to promote recovery.
Who We Are:
Compass Health is Northwest Washington's behavioral healthcare leader. We are a community-based healthcare agency, integrating behavioral health and medical care services to support clients and communities when and where they need us. Building on a century of experience, we are forging new, nationally recognized models of care that bring together highly skilled mental health professionals, primary care providers, peer counselors and others to treat the whole person.
We address complex healthcare needs in partnership with first responders and other community organizations, and form a key section of the community safety net to serve our clients and others who need our care and support. From comprehensive mental health treatment to crisis prevention and intervention, supportive housing, children's services, community education and much more, our non-profit organization serves people of all ages throughout Snohomish, Skagit, Island, San Juan, and Whatcom counties.
Whatcom Child & Family Program:
Child and Family Outpatient services provide an array of counseling and support services to families with children and youth who may have emotional and/or behavioral challenges. Compass Health services are designed to promote positive changes in behavior, help the child /youth and family learn appropriate coping skills, improve communication skills including learning to resolve conflict and manage emotions in a healthy manner. Families seek counseling for a variety of reasons. Sometimes circumstantial life changes can bring about symptoms of depression, anxiety, and mood disorders which impede the child or youth's everyday life. Youth may have challenges at school, with peers, or in the community. Problems related to traumatic experiences that impact the child, youth and/or their family often initiate the request for counseling in an effort to relieve painful feelings.
Compass Health services are tailored to meet the developmental needs of the children and youth and we work to involve family members including foster parents and guardians when that will benefit the client. We offer individual therapy and family therapy using evidenced-based practices and work to coordinate with schools, Children's Administration, juvenile justice and other systems that are involved with the particular client.
We operate out of our clinic space for in clinic appointment options, in a multitude of Whatcom County Schools, and provide telehealth alternatives as needed.
Why work for us:
As the region's largest non-profit community behavioral healthcare organization, we have been serving our clients and our communities for over 110 years.
