Responsibilities Job Summary: The Technician is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of patient samples, low complexity/automated test analysis and reporting of results for patient samples. He/She is also responsible for instrument maintenance/standardization, daily quality control and adherence to all laboratory policies. Key Responsibilities: Analyze patient samples using current low complexity laboratory methods/instrumentation (40%) Performs quality control and quality assurance protocols (20%) Reports results of patient sample analysis using computer/instrument interface options (20%) Performs the duties of a Clinical Technologist II as needed (10%) Answers telephone inquiries (5%) Performs instrument preventative maintenance as scheduled or needed (5%) Other Demands: Punctuality and a good attendance record. Adherence to all University, Division and Department policies. Professional discretion with confidential patient results. Adherence to all laboratory safety procedures. Participation in continuing education. Relationships/Authorities: Technicians report to the Technical Specialists and Supervisors. Generally works under the guidance of laboratory supervisors or senior technologists, Pathology residents and/or Faculty.
