Paralegal - Litigation

Frier Levitt, established in 2000, is a national boutique law firm focused exclusively on Healthcare and Life Sciences. The Firm draws on its experience representing stakeholders across the entire healthcare spectrum. In the Life Sciences, Frier Levitt has represented pharmacies of all kinds and assisted with regulatory, transactional, and litigation matters. On the Healthcare side, the Firm's clients have included large physician group practices, hospitals, hospital medical staff, ambulatory surgery centers, laboratory companies, as well as the complete panoply of ancillary service providers. Frier Levitt attorneys are licensed in numerous states. The Firm has offices in Pine Brook, New Jersey, and New York City.

An experienced, full-time Litigation Paralegal is sought for Frier Levitt's Pine Brook, NJ, office. This is a new position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Communicate timely, effectively, and professionally with court personnel, opposing counsel, co-workers, and others
  • Document management using NetDocuments
  • Manage outside vendors
  • Draft pleadings and discovery
  • File pleadings with the court (including e-Filing)
  • Legal research
  • Investigative research
  • Analyze data and prepare summary charts
  • Keep track of case deadlines
  • Work with electronically stored information (ESI)
  • Document organization
  • Summarize transcripts
  • Prepare trial exhibit lists and trial notebooks
  • Prepare deposition exhibit lists and deposition notebooks
  • Track exhibits and other evidence during a trial
  • Enter billable time into Centerbase software

Requirements:

  • 2-4+ years' experience as a litigation paralegal in a private law firm
  • Completion of an ABA-approved paralegal certificate program OR a college degree in paralegal studies; will consider equivalent work experience in lieu
  • Strong litigation background and skills, including trial preparation
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills
  • Competency on NetDocuments (or other document manager), MS Office, Adobe PDF
  • Experience with class actions a plus
  • Healthcare experience a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and part of a team
