Responsibilities

Multiple Positions Available

Designs, develops, selects, tests, implements, and evaluates education of new or modified informatics solutions, data structures, and decision-support mechanisms to support patients, healthcare professionals, and their information management interactions within healthcare contexts; assists in the planning, design, development, implementation, support and ongoing optimization of the electronic health record and other technologies; monitors, audits, and reports on education and adoption processes to identify needs and trends; collaborates with appropriate teams to formulate corrective actions for identified needs; builds professional skills by maintaining awareness of the healthcare environment, clinical information systems technology, evidence-based practice, leadership and informatics industry trends and standards; coordinates system parameters and project designs with the Director, Nursing Informatics, project teams and/or vendors; oversees standardization of all new clinical documentation; ensures the completion and effectiveness of assessing, planning, implementation, evaluation and optimization of the informatics projects; collaborates with informatics team and end users to ensure education of development and maintenance provides efficient work flow and processing for end users; participates in strategic and tactical planning for clinical application development, reporting and enhancement with healthcare and informatics teams; functions as a liaison for clinical application information between healthcare staff and informatics team; develops and delivers training programs for USA Nursing informatics, creating operating manuals and learning tools, as needed; provides ongoing support and education to providers and clinical staff at levels throughout the health system to include orientation and any maintenance training as needed; utilizes a PC, audio-visual equipment, and other technology as required; communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, staff, and vendors in person and via telephone; responds to overhead pages and digital pager; abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and polices and performs these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization's values; adheres to hospital policies including those pertaining to confidentiality; participates on committees as assigned; participates in Performance Improvement activities as assigned; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours and call as required; related duties as required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama, four years of professional nursing experience, and current licensure with the state of Alabama as a registered nurse; or a master's degree in health informatics from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and four years of professional health informatics experience. Healthcare information systems experience is highly preferred.
