The Grant and Restricted Fund Accountant provides financial management and compliance oversight for grants, contracts, and other awards from foundation, corporate, and government sponsors in support of faculty research, scholarship and creative activities, as well as those in support of curricular, programmatic, and College initiatives.
The Grant and Restricted Fund Accountant works closely with the Grant Managers responsible for institutional grants and faculty-led grants. The Grant Accountant has primary responsibility for the establishment of accounting procedures and protocols, costing and allocations, monthly reporting and auditing of grants, and assists in the establishment of a budget for grants. They are responsible for monitoring and proper recording of indirect funds related to grants, in compliance with the Office of Management and Budget's Uniform Guidance for IDC funds.
The Grant and Restricted Fund Accountant monitors Grant Funds from award set-up through closeout while adhering to College, State and Federal policies. This position plays an important role in post-award compliance to ensure that budgets are not overspent, grant periods are adhered to, costs are allowable under the grant and accounting records are maintained in good order and for the proper time.
The Grant and Restricted Fund Accountant prepares and analyzes monthly reports for endowed and other restricted funds to ensure spending does not exceed allowable, and works with Senior Financial Planning Analyst to budget for restricted positions and known expenditures.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, finance or related field.
- 5+ years of accounting and internal controls/auditing
- Experience with grants and contracts administration in a higher education setting.
- Experience with the federal Uniform Guidance
- Experience with accounting for endowed and restricted fund accounting
- Extensive knowledge of MS Office Suite products, Google apps and accounting software
- Strong problem-solving skills and understanding of data analysis and forecasting
- Organized, detail-oriented professional with the ability to carry out tasks autonomously and collaboratively
- Handle highly confidential information responsibly
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with non-financial people
- Skill in data entry with minimal errors.
- Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, reports and correspondence.
- Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
- Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines
- Demonstrates excellent financial and quantitative skills.
- Communicates effectively and has strong presentation skills.
- Collaborates well with colleagues using adept social skills.
- Works independently using project management skills.
- Builds strong working relationships and has exceptional leadership skills.
- Learns quickly and has strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Highly adept at Microsoft Office, particularly strong skill in Excel.
- Skilled at developing reports from ERP systems with tools like Smartview or Tableau
- Experience with grant management systems such as Kyuse and Oracle Cloud a plus.
