Staff Accountant

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining and updating investment transactions through the FISERV Investment Portfolio Accounting system. Processing the monthly investment accounting run to calculate interest accruals, amortization, accretion, and market value change including the FAS 115 adjustments. Reconcile the Bank's investment portfolio to the general ledger and custody safekeeping statement accounts. Additional responsibilities include payroll posting and reconciliation as well various daily general ledger reconciliations.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
- Responsible for creating new investment purchase or sale transaction documentation to be reviewed and entered to the IPA software. Process payments, maturities, calls, run the monthly accounting run and mark to market entries. Prepare the quarterly RC-B call report regulatory schedule.
- Serves as the primary Cognos report writer and Business Intelligence liaison to develop sophisticated reporting, analytics, and dashboarding using database integration for the bank.
- Prepares various daily reconciliations of the loan and deposit subledgers to Jack Henry general ledger and DDA accounts owned by the finance department. Research and resolve any discrepancies.
- Act as backup to the Accounting Specialist, to complete daily reconciliations of assigned general ledger accounts to system applications, correspondent bank cash accounts, resolve errors and post manual journal entries to the Jack Henry Core System. Process and complete the accounts payable function.
- Prepares and uploads the weekly ADP payroll files for the Bank, GSBWM, and Trustees. Reconciles the ADP master salary and tax report to the general ledger.
- Assist with preparing monthly financial statements and related board reporting.

- Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIRED: A college degree (BS or BA in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field).
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Two to three years of similar or related experience.
