This growing Dietary Supplement Manufacturer in Western Suffolk County seeks a dynamic, self-motivated, results-oriented production planner with experience running MPS/MRP in an ERP system in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.  Primary responsibilities include evaluating demand signals from multiple sources and turning them into a production plan that meets customers' requirements and maximizes production efficiency. This role maintains close working relationships with Sales, Operations, Finance, and Supply Chain to support the continuous production flow in the manufacturing facilities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Enter and maintain master data in SAP B1 ERP system for Items, BOMs, Formulas, and other critical manufacturing/scheduling master data.
  • Demand Management: Understand and analyze demands to create reliable system inputs.
  • Utilize MPS and MRP to generate production and purchasing requirements.
  • Release production orders based on all components and materials available and available production capacity.
  • Provide a prioritized production plan to departments with the intent to maintain targeted inventory levels while balancing staffing, machine capacity, and production efficiencies.
  • Analyze site production plans based on current and evolving business needs, site capacities, and material or timing requirements.
  • Support S&OP meetings focused on customer support and plant profitability.
  • Maintain and modify key item-level master data such as items, BOMs, formulas, production quantities, inventory levels, etc.
  • Work with plant leadership to schedule production around the plant's budget structure.
  • Engage with the sales team to understand priorities based on demand signals, sales trends, and policy.
  • Communicate with manufacturing leaders and adjust the production schedule when necessary.
  • Inform team members of any extenuating circumstances that could cause service failures.
  • Maintain item-level configuration and own the processes of MPS and MRP within the organization.
  • Provide cross-functional leadership across departments to solve demand-related issues caused by forecast errors, demand constraints, unplanned promotional opportunities, etc.
  • Provide Sales and Operations teams with timely analysis, guidance, and decision-making to ensure that the supply chain is in the best position to execute the demand plan generated from the total operational forecast.
  • Generate and publish monthly and weekly demand forecasts to key stakeholders, including clear identification of assumptions highlighting significant changes since the release of the previous report.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Engineering or other related field.
  • 3+ years' experience in production planning, preferably in a nutraceutical/food/beverage manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience managing a diverse set of internal stakeholders, including forecasting, inventory management, maintenance, and quality assurance.
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, SAP B1, or other similar ERP systems)
  • Experience with MPS/MRP, ERP (SAP B1 a plus).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment where constant change needs to be managed with internal and external customers.
  • Financial understanding of P&L and ability to drive results for bottom-line profit.
  • Demonstrates superior interpersonal, coaching, and communication skills at multiple levels of the organization.
  • Motivated, self-directed, and detail-oriented
  • Aptitude in decision-making and working with financial KPI’s.
  • Effectively work with multiple projects simultaneously & to develop priorities.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally.
