Description

Under the direction of the COO, the RN Staff Development Coordinator serves as a Clinical Learning & Development Specialist. Responsible for assessing, planning, coordinating, teaching, and/or evaluating education and training programs. Develops alternative methodologies for education based on adult learning principles. Collaborate with leaders, employees, educational facilities and other community agencies. Responsible for assessing, managing, and documenting needs of the clinic related to rules and regulations, compliance risk management safety.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Coordinates, develops and provides ongoing education within departments. Understands the competency process of validation. Is self-directed and accountable for ongoing learning and education.
  2. Demonstrates effective collaborative skills with administrators and/or health team members to identify learning needs and the resources necessary to meet customer/client needs.
  3. Uses research and health related literature to enhance care practice related to age specific needs, growth and development and/or role status.
  4. Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office/Windows applications, analytical decision-making, information gathering, presentation, project management, group facilitation, innovative problem solving, and demonstrable training skills.
  5. The work is diverse, meaningful and provides an opportunity to directly impact care delivery through education and training. The individual in this position will serve as the onboarding instructor conducting clinical skills, procedure instruction, and documentation skills to new hires and all nursing staff when new processes are implemented.
  6. Able to cover patient care as needed.
  7. Willing to assume and able to demonstrate leadership and management skills.
  8. Provides leadership to assure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and nurse practice standards.
  9. Supervise a team of nurse leads as assigned.
  10. Assists with effective staff management (recruitment, hiring, development, training, performance feedback, evaluation, etc.) that assures utilization of personnel to best meet the needs of the people receiving supports and services.
  11. Develop, maintain, and implement nursing policies and procedures that conform to current standards of nursing practice, facility philosophy, and operational policies.
  12. Communicates and interprets policies and procedures to nursing staff and monitors staff practices and implementation to include nursing competencies.
  13. Oversees and supervises development and delivery of in-service education to equip nursing staff with enough knowledge and skills to provide compassionate, quality care and respect for patient rights.
  14. Interacts courteously with patients, families, medical staff, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams.
  15. Build trusting relationships by acting with integrity, courtesy, and responsibility, even in the face of stress or demanding workplace conditions.
  16. Knowledge of current federal and state laws and regulations that apply to community/clinical primary care setting.
  17. Has strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to prioritize.
  18. May travel/work at other clinic locations.
  19. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
  1. Possess a current unencumbered Kansas Nursing License, required.
  2. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  3. BLS certified required and may be obtained within 90 days of employment.
  4. Project Management Certification preferred.
  5. 6-month electronic health record superuser is preferred.
