We are seeking for a team player with solid technical skills to work with our team of smart, creative, and dedicated engineering team-members. This position is based out of our Herndon, VA location with the option of a remote work schedule.

The Mechanical design engineers works within iDirect Government Engineering team. The candidate will be responsible for the participating in the specification, design, development, documentation and support of comprehensive satellite communications system incorporating power, digital and RF designs from concept through completion. He/she will be a highly motivated self-starter with strong written and oral communication skills and works well in a team environment. Responsibilities

  • Create complete drawing packages for manufacturing and assembly of products including mechanical assembly, wiring diagrams, and detailed piece part drawings for fabrication of individual parts
  • The candidate will be responsible for engineering mechanical solutions for electronic packaging at the chip level, board level, and enclosure level for various Satcom and RF products
  • The candidate will participate in the full product life cycle from concept review, analysis, CAD development, prototyping, testing, production release, and ongoing production support
  • The candidate will interface with engineering support teams to coordinate new releases of products, drawing, and test plans
  • Perform lab testing (DVT, HVT and SVT) and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Participate in sustaining engineering activities, including modifying and enhancing existing designs
  • Provide training and support as required to manufacturing and test staff
  • Creating new concepts in support of business development opportunities
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • 2-8 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with Pro-E/Creo
  • Experience with designing sheet metal parts, machined parts, injection molded and die cased metal parts
  • Experience with Agile and or other revision control systems for documentation control
  • Experience reading drawings and/or technical diagrams.
  • Experience using electrical test equipment (Multimeters, Oscilloscopes, Power Supplies, etc.)
  • Practical experience in hardware debug - use of test equipment (DSO, Spectrum Analyzer, Waveform Generator, FRA, etc.).
  • Experience with cable harness design.
  • Working knowledge of volume production, process and quality; RMAs, Functional Test Fixtures
  • Experience in communications background - satellite or wireless preferred.
  • Experience developing and maintaining comprehensive test plans.

Education: BS/MS/PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.

Clearance: Active DoD security clearance or ability to obtain a secret level DoD clearance.

Travel: 0-10%
