Reports to: Director of Finance

This position supports financial planning and budget analysis across all departments, programs and initiatives. Primary responsibilities will include:
  • analyzing and accounting for the School's endowment gifts, income allocations, and distributions; and,
  • monitoring daily cash activity and related reconciliations.
In addition, this position will work on various projects to assist the Director of Finance. Some of these projects may include new system implementation or integration, workflow automation, and assisting in the preparation of Committee presentation materials, monthly financial reporting, and annual audit and tax workpapers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Duties may be modified and other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the Director of Finance.
  • Endowment accounting:
    • Review daily gift entries and related donor agreements from the advancement department to ensure proper accounting.
    • Monthly and quarterly accounting for net asset releases and endowment distributions in accordance with donor agreements.
  • Cash oversight:
    • Monthly reconciliation of cash accounts and daily review and recording of cash activity.
    • Monthly reconciliation and accounting for the School's debt and related interest swap agreement.
    • Preparation of requisitions for bond drawdowns as necessary.
  • Accounting analysis:
    • Preparation of monthly general ledger entries.
    • Reconcile various balance sheet accounts.
    • Assist with the month end close process.
  • Reporting and year end support:
    • Assist with presentations for Committee meetings.
    • Assist with preparation of audit related schedules and note disclosures.
    • Assist with annual 990 tax return.
  • Manage the liability insurance of the school. Responsibilities will include:
    • Developing the annual budget for insurance.
    • Ensuring proper and adequate coverage for property, cyber, director and officer, student (tuition and health), and other coverages with the School's insurance broker.
    • Serve as a liaison with the insurance broker and providers on claim resolution.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance.

  • Bachelors plus 5 or more years' experience or combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing and build relationships at all levels among administrative, academic, and managements groups as well as peers.
  • Must be well organized, flexible, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must have an ability to learn quickly, to initiate action, and an eagerness to grow.
  • High degree of initiative and accuracy.
  • Highly proficient with multiple computer applications, particularly Excel.

Other:

Normal work schedule is a minimum of 40 hours per week, full year, typically 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Occasional work nights and weekends may be required based upon the needs of the department. Please note the scheduled is subject to change based upon the needs of the School.
