JOB SUMMARY- EHR Specialist

Electronic Health Records (HER) Specialist assists in the day-to-day activities related to the support of the electronic health records system, including workflow analysis, project management, testing, and managing internal support tickets. The EHR Specialist manages project goals until they are accomplished, and maintains the highest level of professionalism, productivity, and efficiency.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

  1. Understand the needs of the EHR users to improve workflows and anticipate process improvements.
  2. Work with multiple stakeholders to ensure that applications and related information technologies continue to meet the organization's ever-changing clinical and business requirements to enhance patient care.
  1. Collaborate and work in partnership with clinical and administrative staff, as well as senior leadership, to ensure a high level of patient care, quality, and compliance is upheld.
  1. Ongoing maintenance of the EHR, including configuring and implementing updates to system.
  2. Ensure adherence to departmental policies, procedures, and best practices.
  3. Experience documenting, designing, and implementing EMR/EHR system-associated process changes.
  4. Collaborate with training team to test, train, and implement system upgrades and enhancements.
  1. Assure good communication and coordination exists between True Health and its agencies, vendors, and the public; provide assistance, and support as needed.
  1. Assure EHR Helpdesk Support tickets are completed on time in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
  2. Assure ownership of user issues and strive to provide excellent services to all staff.
  3. Stay current with EHR system information, changes and updates based on current equipment and software needs.
  4. Apply diagnostics techniques to identify problems, investigate root causes, and recommend appropriate solutions.
  5. Identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention.
  6. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  1. Associate degree, or equivalent applicable experience
  2. Working knowledge of Epic EMR System is a plus
  3. 3+ years of experience in the health care industry
  4. 3 years of experience in technical support environments
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  1. Working knowledge of an EMR system (preferably)
  2. Excellent written and oral communication skills
  3. Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple projects.
  4. Ability to travel to all geographically separated locations.

RELATIONSHIP REPORTING
  1. Reports to the EHR Director
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  1. Ability to stand, walk, or view a computer screen for extended periods of time.
  2. Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions for extended periods of time.
  1. Involves sitting approximately 70 percent of the day, walking, or standing the remainder and during training programs.
