Qualifications:

- Preferred- Two years Medical Surgical or one year critical care experience.

Responsibilities:
Job Summary
Under general supervision, the Interventional Radiology Nurse works closely with the assigned radiologist and technologists to provide hands-on care to patients of all ages, before, during and after radiology procedures and imaging. Within that role, the Interventional Radiology Nurse performs all steps of the nursing process including assessing patients, interpreting data, planning, implementing, evaluating care, coordinating care with other providers, and teaching the patient and family how to manage aftercare to prevent complications. The Interventional Radiology Nurse partners with the patient's family wherever possible, considering all aspects of care, to deliver family centered care.
Duties
- •The Interventional Radiology Nurse is responsible for performing a variety of duties, including frequent IV starts, administering medications including moderate sedation, and assisting with procedures/imaging that require independent judgment and initiative.
- The Interventional Radiology Nurse is responsible for performing a variety of procedures. Typical Procedures performed in IR: Percutaneous tube placements for: Abscess, GI, Nephrostomy and Biliary. Biopsy of: Lung, Liver, Thyroid, Bone, Lymph. Vascular Interventions such as Thrombolysis, stenting and embolizations. Paracentesis and Thoracentesis. Peripheral IV placements, foley catheter placement.
- •The Interventional Radiology Nurse is responsible and accountable for the delivery and coordination of patient care.
- •The Interventional Radiology RN will perform according to the standards of the discipline & specialty and are accountable for managing patient care, monitoring the quality of nursing care provided, and assisting others in the management of patient care.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Lifting Requirements:
Prolonged periods of standing and walking. Lifting, pushing, pulling up to 50 pounds, transferring, repositioning patients, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching for patient care functions.
The job may involve radiation exposure. As a result, wearing lead protective gear and a radiation dosimeter is required in some procedural areas.
