Mental Health Therapist

Responsibilities: Under the supervision of a Coordinator or Supervisor, serves as a master's level professional clinician performing a wide range of direct and indirect interventions utilizing the NAVIGATE model. NAVIGATE is a nationally recognized Coordinated Specialty Care program providing early intervention to youth and young adults experiencing a first episode of psychosis. Serves as a clinician providing Individual Resiliency Training (IRT), Family Education and Support (FE), and Supported Education and Employment (SEE) within a multi-disciplinary team. Additional duties include recommendations and referral to various programs, program components and other services in the community. Consults with service providers. Responsible for extensive case documentation. Assesses challenging behaviors and emotional trauma by interviewing and observing consumers, reviewing appropriate records and developing a specific treatment plan often using the NAVIGATE model. Responsible for carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI's mission, policies and procedures.
Requirements: Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or closely related field required. Possession of an appropriate State of Michigan credential is required. One year experience (professional or paraprofessional) in treating or working with persons with mental illness is required, or one academic year of graduate practicum/internship experience working with persons with mental illness is required. Experience and training in the NAVIGATE model are desired and required.Experience working with 15-30-year-old population as well as individuals who have experienced psychosis is desired. A minimum of one year of direct-service experience serving families is required. Ability to communicate accurately and effectively both in writing and verbally is required. Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license and access to reliable means of transportation for job-related use is required.
Conditional Employment Requirements: Employment offers for this position will be contingent upon the results of a background verification and credentialing procedure consisting of: a Michigan State Police clearance check, Central Registry Check, verification of a professional license, Medicaid/Medicare verification, verification of an acceptable driving record, educational background check, and verification of an acceptable work history. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
