QUALIFICATIONS Required:

Must hold or be eligible for Pennsylvania Department of Education Speech and Language Impaired Instructional certificate or School Speech and Language Pathologist Educational Specialist Certificate.

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Speech Communication Disorders from a regionally accredited college or university.

Qualifications-Desired:
Masters Degree
Experience working with elementary or secondary children
School experience preferred
Experience with assessment for augmentative devices desirable

Certificate of Clinical Competence for Speech-Language Pathologist (CCC-SLP) preferred.

The duties include but are not limited to:
  • Conducts speech/language evaluations and determines eligibility in accordance with Pennsylvania Code.
  • Develops and implements IEP's.
  • Screens students for the purpose of determining the need for further individualized assessment
  • Establishes objectives and plans learning experiences that address the specific communication needs of students.
  • Provides appropriate speech/language intervention to identified students and monitors student progress.
  • Implements activities using a variety of techniques that utilize instructional time to meet objectives.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
  • Manages caseload assignment.
  • Exhibits positive interpersonal skills and is able to work collaboratively.
  • Evaluates the educational program and/or student progress.
  • Consults with teachers, parents, other personnel, and/or outside professionals for the purpose of providing requested information, developing plans for services, and/or making recommendations
  • Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication.
  • Maintains and submits records and reports.
  • Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policies, and state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Travels to various schools within the district.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by principal or the Director of Special Education.
  • Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and leadership.
