AWS Applications Engineer

Apex Systems has an immediate need for an AWS Engineer to support AWS implementations for a Government Services client.

Location: Remote

Length: Long-term contract, opportunity to convert full time

The following technologies are required for this role:

Glue, Lambda, FarGate, SNS, SQS, S3, etc. and be proficient scripting with python.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced AWS PaaS Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in AWS services, with expertise in high availability, AWS Glue, AWS Fargate, AWS Analytics, and AWS Lambdas. Proficiency in Python for lambda development is a must, along with a solid foundation in SASS and application development using an object-oriented programming language.

Responsibilities:

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and design scalable, highly available AWS PaaS solutions.

- Develop, configure, deploy, and maintain AWS Glue, Fargate, Analytics, and Lambda services.

- Design and implement data processing pipelines using AWS Glue, ensuring efficiency and reliability.

- Manage and optimize AWS Fargate instances and containers, ensuring high availability and scalability of applications.

- Create and maintain AWS Analytics services, including Kinesis, Athena, Redshift, and QuickSight.

- Write efficient and well-structured code for AWS Lambdas using Python, ensuring functionality and scalability.

- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to AWS PaaS services, taking proactive measures to ensure system performance and reliability.

- Collaborate with software engineering teams to develop applications using object-oriented programming languages, adhering to best practices and code standards.

- Stay up-to-date with the latest AWS services, industry trends, and best practices, and recommend improvements and optimizations to existing architectures.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

- Proven experience working as an AWS PaaS Developer or in a similar role.

- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with AWS services, including Glue, Fargate, Analytics, and Lambdas.

- Proficiency in Python programming language, with a focus on Lambda development.

- Familiarity with SASS and experience in developing applications using an object-oriented programming language, such as Java or C++.

- Experience in designing and implementing high availability systems using AWS services.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.

- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

- AWS certifications, such as AWS Certified Developer - Associate or AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate, are a plus.

- A strong passion for learning new technologies and keeping up with the rapidly evolving AWS ecosystem.
