JOB DESCRIPTION

Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. RN Medical/Surgical Inpatient Orthopedics Night shift 7p-7a 48.0 hours/week with every other weekend rotation

Department: Seton 2 Ortho

Shift Timing: 23:00 - 07:30

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
  • Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare tea
  • Hospital unit: Seton 2 Unit description: 24 bed ortho/med surg unit
  • Nurse to patient ratios: 1: 4- 1:6
  • Patient population: Ortho post-ops/ med-surg
  • # beds per unit: 24
  • Other staff/resources on the unit: LPN/PCT/Unit Secretary
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • National Institutes of Health (NIH)
  • Certified Principal Investigator (CPI) Certification
  • Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
  • The ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Strong technical skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Passionate about patient care
  • Graduate from a fully accredited RN program
  • Minimum three years of current Med/Surg RN experience
  • One year of Orthopedic RN experience
  • Active unencumbered RN New York state license
Requirements:
  • COVID vaccine with 2 Shots & Booster.

  • Participates in relevant continuing education programs.
  • Knowledge of and dedication to the highest patient care and provide the utmost service excellence to all patients.

  • A can-do, team oriented attitude is essential, as the ability to work independently and to interact easily with physicians, other managers and staff throughout the department and hospital.
  • Effective interpersonal/communication, organizational, and the flexibility to handle multiple tasks.
